Falling walls

The congenial air,
is long gone,
I now breathe in
the sullen stench,
The hostile walls
close in,
They reek of fear
and all that loathes,
I look around
for some solace,
But all I find
is an empty space,
Then I wail in vain
at the falling walls,
They collapse in a heap
and so do my hopes,
I then awake
with reddened eyes,
Puzzled, bewildered,
I look around,
The walls still stand,
and the stench is gone
But I'm still alone
in a timeless misery,
I go back to sleep,
telling myself,
"The nightmare, for you,
isn't over yet."
